Here are four haiku's I wrote at work this afternoon. They will give you a glimpse into what kind of day I've had.

Sounds of the office
whirrs, hums, drones, clicks, taps and rings
Quiet is too loud

Up, higher, higher
So much memory is used
Such a huge, huge file

So many small parts
The small ones go unnoticed
They always kill us

Click, click. Tap, tap tap.
Keyboard, mouse and I are one.
I am a machine.

Current reading: Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck
Current listening: Norma Jean - Bless the Martyr and Kiss the Child.

Oh my gosh. I truly believe that the internet was created for this. I must say that CBC Radio 3 is the most amazing site that I have seen in a while. It will be on my must read for every week. Have a look at it and prepare to be amazed. They have just an amazing blend of music, photos, and other content about music, culture and other stuff. CBC is doing a ton of stuff right. All of the Radio 3 sites are great.

A couple of other places that are on my daily list of reading are
Relevant Magazine
Buzzgrinder
BBC News
Wired
Slashdot
Macrumors

Do you ever have one of those kinds of afternoons where you can't find anything that you want to listen to? It is pretty quiet in the office, but most days I think that without some music playing I would go crazy. So I turn on my iPod and crank the tunes to help drown out the monotony. This afternoon though, I have been skipping song after song. I just can't find anything on there that I really want to listen to. 2500 songs and nothing is playing. Seems like such a shame. Maybe it is just the mood I'm in. Usually, music reflects the mood of the listener. I find that I am that way at least. It works the other way too, though. The music that you are listening to will change the mood of the listener. Right now I can't find the right tunes to match my mood and I don't really want to lose this particular mood by listening to some other music. I can't even really describe the mood I'm in right now. I think it is a bit cloudy and lethargic. There's also some longing in there for summer and travel. It is snowy here today so that may play a bit of a role in it. It is interesting to step back from yourself to analyse your emotional state and think of the influencing factors for that emotional state. Maybe my state comes from deeper spiritual issues also. Could be.
